Last Thursday night in Baltimore, Maryland, I attended my first Sparkling Show Sleeping Beauty. The female poet that performed before Jill disappointed me. I have a few things to say about the show. Several people over the age of 50 in the audience were offended by some of her profane language. We love our Sistah Jill Scott! She appeals to so many generations and has survived so many of life’s challenges and disappointments. More of her soul-inspired, soul-healing songs were what I wanted. I also wanted more emphasis on her songs that bring us together, inspire, and uplift us. A wardrobe change for a grand finale would have been nice. The uncomfortable seating in the venue was tight and low, making it impossible to extend our knees or be comfortable enough to stand and dance. The Arts Modell theatre needs seating renovations, especially for hundred-dollar seating.
